Another "journal" page on cardstock, altered images and Pitt Pens.
There are those who would say that by virtue of the fact you aren't churning out paintings or some form of art CONSTANTLY that you aren't a serious artist. There are those who would say because they are prolific and well known it makes them a REAL artist and everyone else just "playing at it". There are those who feel unless you've sold many, many items or have been in an art magazine or a gallery everyone else are merely amatures. There are those who would say a lot of things that could, in fact, be discouraging to others.
I am hear to say don't listen to them, don't buy in to that rubbish. Great artists (regardless of medium) OFTEN experience lulls and periods of no productivity. Great authors suffer bouts of writers block while some crank out a book a year YET that ONE book in years may still end up on the best seller list. Some singers may have years between a new recording or tour but they still have an amazing voice and the next album goes platinum. Actors may take a year off between movies and come back to win the Academy Award. There may be dancers who feel they don't have it anymore only to go to what they think is their one last audition....and they get the lead! So while you may think the inspiration is gone or that you really don't have what it takes or that you are completely blocked...remember this love of art or whatever is your passion, this gift you've been given, this force that runs through your veins.... hasn't left you....it's just recharging. Patience my artful friends, have patience. Don't ever let ANYONE rock your confidence off its foundation.
Close your eyes.............raise your hands in the air and say outloud:
I AM A FABULOUS______________(fill in the blank with whatever applies to you)
AND MEAN IT!
I have every confidence in you and in me too...now let's go shake our groove thangs, while we sing out loud , paint/draw or sketch and then write the movie and star in it! You with me?
Love and supportive cheers,
Lisa
