Wow do the days move fast......a week or more goes by in a rush of time that I truly wish would slow down. Have you ever started to do something in the early morning and before you know it you realize it's late afternoon? You think, "wait, have I even eaten anything yet?" or "it's WHAT time???" or someone calls and you think it's early but the whole day has gone by and you realize you didn't even notice? It's crazy, I tell you, crazy! It's strange how time whirls by in an imperceptible blink especially when there isn't a clock in the room. Working in ones studio makes for a solitary existance at times save for music playing or a DVD or the Turner Classic Movie channel (I love old black and white films). While the time was moving forward I was working on this:
16"x20" gallery wrapped canvas
She gently rests upon a big cushy pillow filled with eider down. Soon she becomes Queen of the Sea and a ballet dancer and a circus performer and she flies high in the air as a wayward balloon. She is the firefly whirling above the paper lanterns and she's the rustling of the trees in the breeze. Sometimes she's the breeze itself and sometimes she is a cloud blowing across an azure sky. In her slumber land she can be anything she wants, in any form....all she has to do is close her eyes softly inhaling and exhaling until she is fast asleep.
I think her face is so sweet and serene.
(must proclaim once again the lack of good lighting and clarity of color - as with all the art shown so far they are SO much better in person)
So while I am in the studio for days there becomes an issue with not being outside and especially not outside looking up at the sky or feeling the breeze through my hair. The other day I ran some errands and while in the parking lot I looked up and the sky was a brilliant blue. Right next to me was a tree not yet showing it's Spring wardrobe and the contrast of that tree against the sky reminded me I MUST make time to get out and look UP now and then.
The last couple of days it changed again....the wind whipping like it was going down the plains (although we don't have plains here). The temps began to drop and as per usual the weather people were perclaiming "the BIG storm" was coming. So far the clouds are the only things that shifted so I stepped out and looked up.
Fluffy, cotton ball clouds...in some areas they look like batting pulled apart.
I see a giant bird looking down on a nest.....do you see it?
The sun is struggling to break through and where it can be seen the color of the sky is a faded blue but blue nonetheless. The air is jacket-worthy cold but right now the wind chimes are quiet.
Once again I look at the time.....
I hope you've all had a most wonderful week and that you enjoy the weekend wherever you are, whatever you do and whatever the weather. Just remember to keep smiling!
Oh and for those who have signed up for the Our World Our Art newsletter, it will go out on Monday so watch for it in your in boxes.
