Well nothing like being late to your own "party", eh? Well we can say I was fashionably late to the event but the only fashion related would be my love for jammie-like clothing and barefeet. But wait, what does that have to do with anything, right?
Hello, I am Lisa Swifka and I created this event as well as the one that ran for 5 years (One World One Heart). To read about it and perhaps participate click on the logo.
I have many creative passions that run the gamut...to understand me is to know that from the moment I could hold a crayon I have L O V E D being creative. But my creative pursuits are all over the place because I do what I feel like in any given moment. My Mom was creative, she would sew for the house, make clothes and make Christmas crafts and it was she who taught me the basics of sewing. I have always been fascinated with the notion "hmm. what can I do with this?" and so my love of altering or painting or recovering or whatever.....for the home is a huge passion for me too. It is a HUGE dream of mine to have my own line of housewares I designed.
I have a passion for repainting furniture and finding new uses for things rather than discard them. My husband, who I call BohoHandyman, is a great partner because although he doesn't necessarily have that innate ability to think outside the box all the time....he carries out some of my visions and supports my quirkiness. You know, "hmm honey, I have an idea I need your help with". He smiles and gets out the metal tape measure in readiness for what new project I have in mind....ha!
We have 2 cats and a dog and they are constantly confused as to what the hubbub is about as furniture is moved about or there is hammering......or I am hand sewing and they can't get on my lap. Our home is small, real small, we don't have expansive rooms or hallways or a second story but it's fine for us and I just use it as my playground to constantly change things. It's quirky and not all perfect as some you see on blogs.........but it suits us fine.
So anyway, I also LOVE creating:
Art dolls that involve my love of fabric and hand stitching (A couple of examples)
I love mixing art and fabric and stitching (wall hanging)
Or redoing lamps and lamp shades (as in this one)
Or altering clothing (this dress used to be all white)
I love to make things from other things.....is that a vague statement or what?
This was made from a tiered metal basket using various fabric and items and hanging from the bottom are test tubes I painted. (brand new ones of course, I ordered the tubes I just don't have test tubes around the house - just so you know)
I also like to sit of an evening and play with my IPad art apps and a stylus
You know I could go on and on and on giving you examples of my zany, crazy, mixed all over the place.....art............ but it would become the post that never ends.
I will say I never stop thinking, dreaming, pondering all that will come next. What's funny is that my love of color is apparent BUT I am in the midst of redoing my studio and I painted almost EVERYTHING white! Funny huh? I just felt it was time to let art, treasures, accessories bring in the color. I will be posting with pics about that in the near future. As well as furniture redos and painted candlesticks etc. ART of any kind comes directly from my heart and soul and is at the core of my being. I have an affinity for faces, hands, birds, hearts, random designs and galvanized metal. You see, I am ALL over the map BUT, it does make life interesting, don't you think? I've only scratched the surface here.
Currently my poor Etsy Shoppe has dust on the shelves and cobwebs in the corner and the windows are too dirty to see inside.....I hope to clean it, put some things on the shelves and reopen by Fall of this year.
For now I want to thank you for visiting...........and as a thank you for doing so leave your comment and on the evening of April 18th I will draw a name to win a giveaway.
Now you are probably asking.....so what is it?
Ah, patience grasshopper...........good things come to those who wait.
