For some odd reason I haven't been able to upload any photos here so I am trying once again.
Here is what is happening in my world..........
Fabric "lanterns" I made from white cotton fabric, wire hoop, wire and paint
(the orange you see is a wonderful Indian printed paper I had that I wish I could remember where it came from) I sewed it on the bottom and then sewed circles cutting the fabric from behind so to better illuminate the paper.
They are illuminated like you would a paper lantern
battery powered LED light
Redid a previous shade by changing the background to a linen color....the other shade I had there was just too much blue. I poked holes at the top of each tree so when the lamp is on it shines through.
This was an experiment in making a fabric window suncatcher with a hoop, white cotton and paint. It's not my fave (truth is it's more a prototype) but I know now what needs to be changed for the next one(s). I have plans to make a few of these - and put them in my poor neglected Shoppe this Fall.
These are down filled throw pillows (these are not bed pillows) that had feathers constantly poking out (I loathe that and they hurt) so I covered all of them in a feather-proof ticking in readiness to make new covers over that. (Painted and stitched of course)
Below is an invitation I designed. My friends daughter is helping give a baby shower and asked if I would do this. The Mom-to-be likes the "rockabilly" theme. (which is using the swallow, checks and red roses). I love those elements whether considered "rockabilly" or not. She and her other co-host were very pleased. I took out the info to show it here.
So here's the thing about me........if you haven't already guessed. I may show certain things in a certain way BUT later I tend to move things around. It's that "Goldilocks" thing I have within me that says it has to feel "just right". A good friend said I'm always changing things but that's because of what I just said. I am not one to put something on a shelf or table of whatever and leave it that way for years.....it's just not in me. I like to rotate things and stand back and live with it for a time. Sometimes things DO stay in one place and sometimes not.
Our home is very small........5 rooms total. There is limited space to have the furniture/things I'd like to have so in here so often times things get rotated in and out. If I had another bedroom and bathroom it would definitely be easier to keep things in place......but since I don't......rotation and change is necessary to keep it fresh. (Not everyday of course, now that would be ludicrous)
Plans are in the works to fix up our patio space.......it's become a warehouse of things making enjoying it impossible. I mean why have it and not use it as intended? So there will have to be a letting go of some things. I have a vision of what I want to do and can't until we purge. I want to be able to enjoy it again, to work outside, to read out there or have morning coffee out there. So that is the plan. With a small house an additional outdoor space is necessary. I want a space to relax, a space for creating out there, a space to eat if we want and I'd love to get a mister fan for summer days otherwise it can get too hot on those 90 degree days to be out there. I would love to have an art day out there with a friend of mine who loves to create as I do as well.
So there you have it............I am so into creating home decor items that I am forever experimenting with things until it's just how I envisioned it. BUT I am aching to get paint on canvas too........ time time time.
Oh and P.S. the bike wheel with fabric I showed in the previous post is now hanging from the front porch. It's so much better out there and it spins around in the wind.
I'd love to hear what's happening in your world? If you've been doing projects of any kind I'd love to see them - leave a link to them in comments.. Pretty please!
Pinterest........are you on Pinterest? I have fallen down the rabbit hole (actually I fell a long time ago), won't you join me?
Until next time...........
