I am one of those renegade sewers that doesn't like to use patterns and often times no sewing machine. Although I do sew with a machine and for years made many articles of clothing and home goods....when it comes to fabric art like wall hangings, quilties, even baby quilts I use only fabric and my scissors (and my imagination) to get the shape/pattern I want. I then use applique with needle and thread to adhere whatever it is to the backgrounds and sew it all together by hand as well. It's rare my sewing machine comes out these days. There is something about using only a needle and thread that makes the process far more organic. In years past I have made a mans shirt, an outfit for myself and a skirt entirely by hand.......just because I could. These days most of the sewing I do is more artistic. The items in this gallery include many things that were part of swaps, gifts or in one case a collaborative quilt. Unfortunately not everything I've made is pictured here as I am still searching for photos on a disk. The most recent items I've made are the non-Christmas stockings.
