THE SAPPY, SENTIMENTAL BLOGIVERSARY PART:
Today marks my two anniversary of blogging! Oh what a two years it's been, where has the time gone?
I feel this sense of bliss when I think of all of YOU. My heart warms when I think of the Glitter Sisters who have stood by me all this time and rallied round when I needed a shoulder, a warm hug and comforting words during a most difficult time for me 19 months ago. I will never forget it. But it's been in good times too,,,,,,,Sedona was magic. I carry their hearts in my heart as many of them are the ones I first met as I dove in to blogging. We have become Fristers, soul friends.
I want to dance and rejoice at the good fortune of meeting so many other new, fabulous friends along the way. I count my blessings that we can take it beyond the blog page and chat via email and even the phone. How in the world would I have had the opportunity to form friendships from all over the globe without blogging? To meet and discover extraordinarily talented artists, writers, photographers, dreamers, warriors,Goddesses (just look at the list on my side bar alone)...............those that don't blog will never understand this. You all bring color and joy and laughs and encouragement and friendship and love in to my life. I have seen a change in myself (and so has G) since I began blogging.........it comes from all the bright light you ALL give off.
So I will light a candle and make a wish for ALL of you...........all of you who stop by here, all of you who I visit, all of you yet to come, all of you from far and wide I've learned from, been inspired by and love. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Here's to many more years together.
THE GIVEAWAY PORTION OF THE PROGRAM:
To commemorate this occasion I am having a giveaway. What is is you say? Well it's the wall hanging below. It's all hand sewn and measures 11"x9". I used one of my drawings and transferred her to fabric. The image is actually a pocket on the wall hanging and will have a couple of little surprises inside for the lucky winner. It hangs from ribbon covered wire and is vibrant and bright using various fabrics, ribbon and embroidery. (the second image is the back side) She may even sing you an aria. To win her all you have to do is leave a comment here and come Monday night I will use ye olde number generator to pick a winner.
THE STORY OF MY MUSE: (below is NOT the giveaway - see above)
A couple of days ago I was sitting in my studio at the work table. I looked around the room at all the supplies, the fabric, the doodahs, the whatnots, the everything. I tapped my fingers on the table and thought "why is my mind blank all of a sudden?" What's next? Suddenly I stood up, went to the fabric cupboard and pulled out a few pieces. I cut this and that and tossed it aside.I looked around again, I knew I wanted to sew. THEN it happened..........in through the window on a whisper of the wind my muse flew in the on the back of a grand bird and said "make us". I drew a pattern on a piece of paper, just gaging size and began to cut out fabric and start to sew. Before I knew it this muse was under my skin.....I was working from nearly sun up to way after sun down. I began to fall in love and the more they came to life the more joy I was experiencing in their creation. I found myself wanting to sing and in my reverie of creating I could feel it.......I could feel the intense joy that comes from satisfaction. Sometimes the muse sleeps and in our impatience for it to awaken again we can feel artistically anemic........luckily it comes back and the art begins coursing through our veins like a transfusion again. I hope you enjoy seeing the results.
The Muse is wild and vibrant and loves to mix fabrics. Her fuchsia hair shines bright like her personality. Her head is made of polymer clay. She is approx. 10" tall. She is fully posable and her body is covered with green silk dupioni and leaves (this is due to her being a seed of an idea that grew and grew). She wears a crown as any good Muse would.
The Muse travels by air on what she calls "The Joy Ride". A vibrant bird who vows he'll take her anywhere. His plumed tail can be positioned in any shape but he prefers spirals. He wears the obligatory striped tights and red shoes and the two can be seen flying high over hill and dale spreading joy and inspiration. Either one would be lost without the other two heads are better than one you know. She has a wire reign she puts on him to keep from falling off on windy flights but it isn't in these photos. She praises him, he praises her and they never speak a cross word to one another. It's a match with it's origins in color, brilliant, flamboyant, dazzling color.....they can't get enough. So if you should see them flying by YOUR window wave to them and wish them well. Maybe one day they'll even get some publicity. Who knows.
Above photo shows Joy Ride finished reigns and eyes,.
THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY HERE AND HANGING IN WITH THIS LONG POST!!
Remember to repeat this every day...........
Much love,
Lisa
A Whimsical Bohemian
P.S.. a silly disclaimer from previous post......that IS my natural hair color in the photo. I don't have gray hair YET...only on my temples near my ears. I opted out of salon highlights this time in favor of my natural red ones that show up anyway...... which is why G took the photo so I could see them in the sun. My grandmother never went all gray, when she passed away at 86 she had one streak of it. Maybe I'll get lucky. heehee (don't ask my why I felt compelled to clarify that - I can be rather ridiculous)
