I've been hanging out in the studio reorganizing things a bit, even made my work area better suited for art and computer. You can make your studio space, whatever it is, seem perfect but the minute you get to work it becomes obvious that certain things won't work that way. Ever since I redid my studio I've made wee changes here and there. I am so glad I have a window AC in here or I'd be a limp rag slumped in a corner of the room. It's been HOT HOT HOT here!! "They" say we are in for a much cooler weekend though.......bring on the cool breezes!!! (fingers crossed)
ANYWAY, I thought I'd show a couple of new illustrations. I am also working on prints of some of my original canvases all in anticipation of opening that Etsy shop. DON'T LAUGH....it's going to happen.....really. Ok, go ahead and say it: "she's been saying this for HOW long?"
"The Bubble Fairy"
She dipped in to the mushroom's magic solution and blew through her golden wand. As the air filled with bubbles a new fairy was born.
This is an 8"x10" original drawing that was digitally "painted". I really love doing illustration-type art and I am working on more.
"The Pumpkin Fairy: Autumn"
This is an 8"x8" original drawing (including the lettering) digitally "painted". I will be doing illos for the other three seasons. Each one will be adhered to a wood substrate that will be suitable for hanging.
I love these pudgy little fairies when I was done they made me think you could touch their tummies and they would blow bubbles as they giggled.
This is a long weekend (Labor Day) but with that comes heavy traffic, masses of people making that last ditch effort to get out and about before school starts. We are not a fan of holiday weekends for that very reason(except that G gets an extra day off).........every place you go takes hours to get there and when you do arrive there's no parking and LOTS of people! I sound like a fuddy duddy but truly, here in the Bay Area it can be a nightmare to even get to the coast. If you are planning on going out and about.......be safe and enjoy!

Don't forget Project Blogway coming on September 17th!!! I hope you'll be joining the runway show! I truly want to keep reiterating the fact that this is about FUN and is not intended to be a daunting challenge.. Get your imagination mojo working.........you CAN make it work! Check out this couture......ALL of it is made from paper and it's amazing. DO NOT think YOU have to create something so complicated - I wanted to inspire you. I've been a fan of her work for a couple of years now. Between the TV show Project Runway and Isabelle de Borchgrave........came my inspiration for this challenge.
Think about these things: posters, pattern tissue, handmade papers, butcher paper, craft paper, wrapping paper, newspaper, post-its, thin currogated cardboard.....it's all out there and can be manipulated, painted, glued, taped, stapled, sewn and so on! AND it doesn't have to be an entire outfit! I sincerely don't mean to be pushy......I just know some people are leary because they've never made clothing before. It doesn't matter.......it can be as avant guarde as you want!
Ok, enough of that...........
I wish you all a wonderful weekend! and remember........ "be in the moment" !!
Love,
Lisa
XOXOXO
