Welcome to the Project Blogway challenge...............which was to create some kind of garment using paper as the only "material". (Trims could be used) On the right side bar you will see the above logo and below will be the links for the Runway Show where you can browse around to see all the fantastic paper couture. You can leave the link to your post here and you will be added to the list. (Remember, you must have a post with a paper garment on your blog) Terisa and I would like to thank all of you who participated and hope you had fun with this challenge.
Now let's start the show:
My Model. She was quite cooperative as I draped, pinned, sewed, glued and twirled her around many times. At one point she was up and down on a table top a number of times. Thank goodness she was patient and didn't walk out in a huff. She did lose her head at one point. Sad, she must have been hungry.
My design was not premeditated in advance....that's because although there has been plenty of time my normal way of working is to let the eleventh hour breathe down my neck.(honestly, by that I mean today - I am posting this Tuesday night) So there I was in the studio with a basket of printed paper I've had forever, needle and thread, some paint and a big roll of white paper. (no going to Mode here) AND a deadline I had created myself but hadn't followed. So I just started cutting..............
The dress itself is gored (panels I sewed together by hand) style fitted at the waist with a printed paper strapless bodice and a rice paper extension to the bodice top that adds a bit of sass. The dress then has an apron over it of mixed papers sewn together. The hem of the white dress is pointed and the 2 sides were painted with one side turquoise and other orange. The back has a detail of accordion pleated papers, 2 painted and the middle preprinted paper.
I am exhausted or I'd be doing a much more cleverly set up reveal.

THE GARMENT: I am calling this the "HONEY, I BAKED YOU AN APPLE PIE" dress.
The dress is white underneath, hem is pointed and painted with the 2 main colors at the edges. The apron has an attached ruffle.

Well that's it for this designer, I wonder what Heidi Klum, Michael Kors, Nina Garcia and especially Tim Gunn would say. I can only imagine!
I will say I followed Tim's ongoing advice to "make it work".
I cannot wait to see what else is on THE RUNWAY!
XOXO
Love,
Lisa
P.S. An FYI - Some of you may not have ever seen the TV show Project Runway therefore won't get some of the references to it. The first 3 names I mentioned above are the judges on the show and Tim is the mentor, his famous line is "make it work". Mode is the name of the store in NY where the designers buy fabric for some of the challenges.
