I've had limited to no internet for the last 5 days...it's up, it's down, it's up, it's down. With Comcast recordings saying "there is a reported outage in your area blah blah blah". I am hoping it stays up long enough to post finally.
I hope you all enjoyed your holiday that celebrated it. Ours was very quiet but nice. We watched old movies and a Christmas one and G made a shrimp dish that was a feast for the taste buds. Since it was just he and I we decided to forgo making a turkey and all the fixin's which was just fine. A little wine, a nice meal and one another......we were thankful.
Yesterday we ventured over to our usual haunt, 4th Street in Berkeley. It was a most beautiful day with the street teeming with people, some with dogs, some with children.....all seemed happy. It was like a scene from a small village where people smiled at one another. The shops were busy but no one pushed you or hurled themselves to some sale table first. We enjoyed walking up and down the street, stopping for lunch and at one point sitting on a bench to watch the people go by.
I also hunted and gathered a few items for Christmas projects, a swap I need to finish and just because. I am making every effort this year to finally embrace this season the best I can.
Taken while sitting on the bench. Colored balls in the trees and I suspect fairy lights when it gets dark. Funny I didn't more photos, I guess I was too busy enjoying the ambiance.
It is unbelievable to me that December is tomorrow..........the calendar pages seem to whirl by each month. I took down all my Fall decorations and this week we will get the bins down from garagpalooza that have all the Christmas stuff in them. Sadly they haven't seen the light of day for about 3 years now and I am determined to bring them out and make our home feel the season. In the last couple of years our house showed no hint it was Christmas time.....I plan to change that this time around. I want sights and smells and jingle bells....even if it's just G and I.
As I said, I am making every effort to embrace the season.....and I know my Mom is smiling about that.
Two weeks from tomorrow I am going to have a party here at my blog. There will be cake of the birthday variety and I hope you'll stop by for a slice and maybe even a glass of champagne. I'm going to have a giveaway too! More about that later. :)
I'm just glad my internet is still up!
Love to all,
Lisa
