I went outside for some fresh air.... the rain has everything soaked....the grass is long and it looks as though it may be housing some unseen fairies. I'm not sure though.
I spotted a "wish flower" with no wishes having been made, only the wind took some of it's chances away. I didn't even try.
I was surprised to see Bunny and his bird out in the rain. "Bunny, you're going to get soaked out here, what are you doing?" He told me he was doing what I had been doing....out for some fresh air. He was hoping to make a wish too but realized, as I had, the rain would make it impossible for them to fly. You simply cannot make a wish and blow on it if the fairy down can't soar through the air.
"Well Bunny, I have been craving cupcakes, come inside and you can watch me. I've been gathering ingredients and going through "recipes"in my head".
I had consulted with Penelope as she takes cupcakes very seriously.
I was also inspired looking at these. I won the red cupcake from Michelle during OWOH (the one on the left I bought from her 2 years ago). I was so thrilled to have won it and that she had mosaiced(is that the right word?) the OWOH on it! I love her work!
I took the top off the "mixer" in preparation. It needed to be dusted a bit from lack of use.
I looked through my store cupboard for various ingredients. I want the cupcakes to have different "flavors". I had so much to choose from I knew there would be more days of "baking" in my future.
Ahh, sparkly spun sugar........I cannot wait to incorporate these in some divine confection.
Inside the store cupboard I also found an unmarked tin that held these delicious morsels of vintage goodness....but still fresh. I just know they will look lovely adorning future cupcakes or other yummy treats.
Every treat has to have something that binds all the ingredients together...the ingredient that without using it there would be no treat.....just a pile of everything and not very appetizing.
Another ingredient that can also act as a "binder" but it's uses are many. It can be an accent or a filler or a decoration. It's ability to twist in to a French knot makes for a yummy topping.
My store cupboard is running out of these so I have them on my shopping list. I love, love, love them on EVERYTHING!!
After sorting all the ingredients.....I mixed and blended and while I worked I sang with Joni Mitchell.
I put on a glove and took the first convection off the rack. One large one to whet the appetite.
It's still awaiting some additional toppings....or maybe I'll leave it alone and wait for the next one.
There is just something about baking cupcakes, looking at cupcakes, savoring cupcakes, eating cupcakes, sewing cupcakes, drawing cupcakes, painting cupcakes that always elicits a smile!
Perhaps that's why we see them everywhere and yet we never tire of them!
Actually I think that smile factor is baked right in any sweet and yummy confection of any kind....because at the end of the day you are only limited by your imagination.
Hmmm, what's that? I think the timer just went off. I best get back to work.
Bunny is anxiously awaiting what comes next.
LOVE,
LISA
