I received a candle in the mail from my niece-in-law a few days ago....and it's divine!!
By Voluspa Japonica collection.......Fragrance Notes: Blend of Champana Blooms, Fresh Fern Leaf, Muguet & Gardenia.
I've been taking it room to room burning it for awhile as the scent lingers after the candle is extinguished. I am now going to get the diffuser (with the wooden reeds) to have out all the time. I just love the fragrance.
When spring/summer rolls around I love the sweet scent of flowers like gardenia and lavender.....and sometimes I will melt the wax "tartlets" by Yankee in my wee electric pots......I like Clean Cotton.....although not a floral it's like the scent of fresh laundry right off the line and good in the "loo" or even a bedroom.
The other scent I like one is called Sunflower, I don't know what the floral notes are but it really permeates the house in a good way. .
The nice thing about the "tartlets" is there is no wick, no dripping wax and you can keep them melting all day
I love the scent of roses but have yet to find something that doesn't smell sickenly sweet (in terms of candles etc)!
Some people can't handle scents in the house due to allergies or in some people it can create a headache.....for me I just love them as long as there is one scent at a time. When I go in those candle stores sometimes it can get pretty overwhelming to have so many scents hit you at once it's like an olfactory overload.
A garden of all fresh scents is another story of course...
I would love to grow lavender and jasmine and gardenia..........
We can't have fresh flowers or house plants in the house though.....and how I miss that.
Our darling Daisy thinks all plants and flowers are a gourmet salad and regardless of where you put them she finds a way to get to them. (no matter how you try and stop her)
Our current (and one and only) house plant has had to be placed in the one HIGH spot I have due to her noshing on it. (and of course I don't want her getting sick)
So I have to create the scent with candles or melting tarlets.
Oh and I've been looking for Lavender linen spray.....you know the kind when you make your bed and then spritz a bit about. So far the ones I have tried lack the true scent of lavender (which can be very restful). If you know of one please let me know.
So what are your favorite scents?

We are still planning to do a makeover in the living room and I tell you finding just the right color is proving quite frustrating! I ordered a sample from Restoration Hardware and it was so not what I thought it would be. Before I finally find THE color the walls will be covered in painted swatches. I keep leaning towards blue...I love the color green we did in the kitchen and since they open up to one another I need the colors to be complimentary.
I want the room to be fresh, welcoming and cozy and a place you just want to hang out in because it feels so darn homey when you walk in the house.
Right now it feels sparse and uninviting because we took things off the walls and there's no real accessories out. We need new curtains.......we'd love to get a new sofa and chair(I am in love with the chaise above). I also want one and a half walls at one end completely filled with bookshelves. It's all so daunting when you don't have an unlimited budget to work with.....and if you're like me....you want it all done NOW!! I know we'll work it out because I felt like this before we redid the kitchen and look how that turned out!
We CAN do this...it's just going to take some ingenuity and decision making.
In the meantime it will smell nice!
Have a wonderful week!!!
