Greetings all, I hope you all had a greatl weekend. I sure did. In fact it was a magical, wonderful, joy-filled weekend!!!
the cloth banner I made to hang on their porch (the porch shadowed the first line due to the position of the sun when it was taken, it says summer greetings)
Do you have friends you knew way back when...elementary school? Junior High? High School? Friends who even though years have gone by..........everyone living their own lives...... you still carry them in your heart?
In fact it reminds me of the end of an e.e. cummings poem:
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)
I could easily go on for days about our hosts for the day(together since high school) who I hold dear and have for 40+ years. But I told them all that I feel and they told me all that they feel and I am tucking it away for safe keeping because it's precious and lovely and mutual. And there were 2 bonuses...one was BohoHandyman finally got to meet them and everyone liked each other a lot!!! And two we got to meet their amazing sons who in their early 20's are engaging, intelligent, sweet, musical and who possess so much charisma you WANT to be in their company! After checking in to our B&B we went to visit them the night before the party to see if we could help with anything...it was PERFECT! Then yesterday we stopped by again before leaving for home and got to spend yet another hour or two with them. I cannot wait to go back - if only I could bottle the contentment felt in their presence, their home and the surroundings outside their home.
And OF COURSE their are others that were at the gathering....others who melt my heart and for whom I am quite thankful that they are on this planet AND that the Universe allowed us to meet lo those many years ago and even with years in between we still hug tightly (I couldn't get enough)and are genuinely happy to see one another again. I would have a blog post that went on for days if I stopped to talk about each one of them. I hope I did a good enough job conveying my feelings to their faces!
The gathering itself was intimate on a gorgeous day surrounded by nature and sitting in the shade of a giant tree right in the middle of the yard of their gorgeous home. Looking up towards the garden where an abundance of lavender grows. Listening to a few play music together (lots of musical people in this group), good food, good drink....lots of merriment.....definitely lots of memories!
just a portion of the group
For their privacy I didn't show the entire home front or even say where this was....but believe me it is incredible!
Who needs an umbrella when you have this tree?
A huge portion of what you see in front is lavender - I could swim in its fragrance!
Below are some of the "minstrels" of the group
Oh I wish I played an instrument...or at least could sing! (my heart was singing though)

BohoHandyman and I stayed at this B&B
and this was our room
The proprietors were so friendly and warm and welcoming! It was clean with a private bath and each morning we sat with a full table of other visitors for a delicious home cooked breakfast. Each of the two mornings this total group of strangers, some from here in Calif. and some from out of state....talked and laughed and told stories as though we all knew each other. Even the owners said they couldn't believe all the talk and laughter they were hearing from the kitchen. It made our stay even more memorable....we WILL go back again.
We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather seeing as how only the week before we were having record heat! We both agreed that if we ever won the lottery (I KNOW, we need to PLAY to win)......we'd consider moving to that area. I don't mean to be cryptic about where we were so I will just make it general in that it was somewhere in Wine Country! No, no wine tasting this trip!
It was a weekend I will never forget.....I can't stop smiling!
Have a most wonderful week!!
I wish for you blue skies, peaceful mind, loving hearts!
P.S. BohoHandyman has begun building me a deck on the front of my new soon-to-be studio space(one was "the shed").........there is lots of work to do inside and out to get it just right for working in but I have hopes it won't be too long!
