Every morning BohoHandyman before leaving for work comes in the bedroom to say he's leaving, gives me a kiss, says I love you and he's on his way. BUT all went down hill after that moment yesterday........I heard the front door open and the screen door open and then I heard an "expletive" from BohoHandyman that let me know something was terribly wrong. I called out "what's wrong"? and got up - his face was white and he looked at me and said "Your car is gone!" WHAT? WHAT? My head was foggy still having not been prepared to get up yet.....I looked out the front door and I just F R E A K E D out!!! I immediately called 911 and they sent an Officer out to take the report.....with me sobbing between answers about my car. My SUV whose name is Princess Periwinkle because that's what color she is and she's perfect......never giving us an ounce of problems in TEN years. Low mileage, reliable, safe and MINE!!! But now where she is normally parked out front there was an empty space........a glaring obviousness that someone in the night had come and taken her away. Some low life with absolutely no concscience or respect for other peoples property somehow got in MY vehicle and drove it away unseen, unheard. NO she didn't have an alarm but I bet she was trying to scream! She doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles so no GPS tracking whatever either.
I felt my stomach turn and my soul rattled by the sheer violation of this act! I know many would say, and they'd be right, good thing it wasn't a car jacking and that I wasn't hurt, BUT still it's gut wrenching and carries that "loss" feeling. I know she's an object but come on I know I am not the only one with an attachment to their vehicle (and names them) AND further who in this economy can just say "oh well" and go by a new or even decent used car out of the blue....not many. Besides I don't want another car.......I want Princess Periwinkle BACK!
The Officer said there had been a series of car thefts in the area recently but it was unusual they'd steal one like mine....they go for the older cars she said. She also said that 90% of the time the vehicle is found but not always in good condition. I sobbed more. She took down every detail I could think of and I even emailed her 2 more I had forgotten in my emotional state. The problem now is unless the car is left abandoned and someone reports it OR the low-life gets pulled over no one will know it's a stolen car. They could....I can't even type what they could do with her as it makes my stomach lurch.
So now we wait.....the clock ticks and every time the phone rings I want so badly for the caller Id to say it's the police. We called the insurance company right away too and he,too, said a high number of stolen cars are found BUT again...not always in the same condition. Ackk....that makes me sick.
I am trying to stay positive we will hear something but it's hard. I know there are worse things that happen in this world, I do. I know my car is not a child or other loved one or someone is seriously ill etc. I do. I haven't lost sight of the facts in that regard but at the same time one cannot help these feelings.
So I ask that you put out those amazing blogger vibes that she'll be found safe and sound and that the low-life-with-no-soul is caught!! And if you live in No. Calif and should see a periwinkle blue(very few are in this color), 2000 Toyota 4Runner with vanity plates about the ocean, a sun roof. low roof rack on top and side running boards.....CALL the police!
This is the only picture I could find of her in my computer but you can see the color....periwinkle is blue with a tiny bit of purple in it - trust me when I say you see very few 4Runners in that color.
After going through huge amounts of photos I finally found a full photo of Princess Periwinkle:
see the color, it's not one you usually see!
Thanks for reading this if you did and for hopefully not think I am a nut job for getting this upset over a vehicle....because it's more than that....it's a violation of personal property!
Love,
Lisa
