Here I am again: same thing. I was going to apologize for my lapse in blogging again and then I think who am I apologizing to? To myself? To those unseen faces that MIGHT be wondering where I have been? And what for? To apologize means you have done something you are sorry for, be contrite, express regret. I haven't done anything wrong that warrants an apology....I've just been doing my thing and it hasn't, unfortunately, included regular blog posts.
I got to thinking about some of the blogs I have on my list both here and in my Favorites on the computer and how many I have found where they have been absent as well. I know in my heart they have lives too and that when the time is right they will be back. The same for me.
I've been "nesting" a lot and because I started so many various projects room to room nothing is getting done to completion for one reason or another. In fact these projects have sort of taken over my life which at first was fun but now it's become troubling that my ART is suffering in the process, even reading a book or going out. It became an obsession because as MANY of you know you change just one thing and now something else looks wrong....so you change that and now the color is wrong.....it's a giant snowball affect. BohoHandyman's TO DO list was growing at leaps and bounds. The poor guy would walk in from work and would hang something, or redo something, or drill holes for something and on and on. He liked the busyness instead of vegging in front of the TV at night but I think he may be growing weary of it all.
I am going to share a couple things we've done. The first is a bed that my Mom found in the basement of the house we lived in when I was born. It and 2 other pieces were filthy and the landlord told her she could have them. She cleaned them, painted them white and filled in the details with pastel colors. The bed was a "youth" bed which is not as long or wide as a twin. I've carried it everywhere we've lived in hopes one day to use it ....for something.
Here it is before:
Soooo what I decided to do was have BohoHandyman add on to the sides of the headboard and footboard to make it twin width. I then asked him to add 2 posts we had that we had bought at a salvage place. We couldn't use the side rails so we used a standard bed frame to attach them to and I painted the bed. We did this to have a guest bed/napping spot for my studio.
Right now the bedding shown is temporary until I can find just what I want. After we remove the AC unit for the season I am going to put up a canopy around it from the ceiling. At the end of the bed where the TV sits is one of the other pieces my Mom found with the bed. I will photo that another time but BohoHandyman stripped and stained it years ago (it's oak). The wall at the end of the bed is a large piece we bought on Craigslist earlier this year that I have no intentions of painting.
It has my books and things we treasure, including some photos.
I am still working on my studio so the other side will be shown at a later date. The bad thing is that the walls are in dire need of paint so we'll have to move these things to get that done (talk about backward) but I haven't decided what color yet. We also replaced the door to my studio with a screen door...yes, a screen door. The door needs to be closed all the time to keep the cats out and this way it doesn't feel closed in. It works great but I need to finish some painting on it and get a better little knob. This room is going to take priority as I HAVE to get back to my real passion that has been put on hold way too long!
The other thing we did was replace the light over the kitchen table....it used to be this
now it's this:
It 's a much better fit. I love the shape, the texutre and the naturalness.
I still have to paint or touch up a few things in the living room. I have new fabric to make some throw pillows and at this point we have nothing on the walls yet. Furniture wise we are on hold to get the sofa and a chair reupholstered as those are the costly bits. Soon it will be what it is for awhile.
So my friends that's where I've been. (with the occasional treasure hunting on the weekend)
I cannot believe we are mid October........we have still been getting summer temps but today it seems a tad cooler but not cool enough yet. I am so ready for crisp Fall days, cardigans and going out to see the leaves changing and the smell of pumpkin spice.
OH OH OH.......just a couple more things to share......(sorry this post got WAY long, that's what happens when you wait so long in between posts)
First, the police found Princess Periwinkle (my stolen SUV) last week. It was reported abandonded not that far away. Since we no longer own her (the insurance company does) we had to get a release to look in for any of our belongings. Well I couldn't do it so BohoHandyman went to the tow lot.....the license plate w/the tags was gone but the other was under one seat. There were various bits left but our phone chargers, tools, collapsible coolers and my beloved ballet slippers were all gone. The sad thing is that he said with a thorough cleaning inside and out she would look just like she did when she was stolen. She was NOT ripped apart, bashed or trashed. Now she will go up for auction some place. 2 1/2 months those scums had her and we were sure she was either in pieces or in another state or even Mexico by now. So that's that.
Secondly and more importantly, Some of you may know Tristan Robin Blakeman of Enchanted Revelries. He hasn't been posting on his blog lately but he does on Facebook. Recently having not seen him around there even I learned he was VERY ill, in ICU in an induced coma. The lastest report I read was that he was getting better each day but that it would be a long time before he would leave the hospital. I do not know if he is still in the coma. So please send him your best healing thoughts/vibes/prayers....he's such a talented and wonderful guy!
Ok I will stop here. Remember the next newsletter for Our World Our Art will come out the end of this month or at least by mid November. I still need to do the logo. I am so happy so many have signed up to receive these!
See you again sooner rather than later......I hope!!!
I appreciate beyond words those of you who take the time to stop by!!!
Love,
Lisa
