Although the walls and ceiling are in desperate need of painting.......and the guest bed doesn't have it's canopy yet.....and the window AC needs to come out and nothing is hung on the walls......it was high time I got the other area of my studio ready to do ART again. It's long overdue......it's my passion and it keeps me up nights that nothing is getting done, nary a sketch. Soooo that part is ready and the other things will come in time over the winter. In my last post I told you we bought a drafting/drawing table from the eccentric shop owner, he had it outside and being that it's on the coast it smelled damp and the top padding needed to be removed. So when we got it home we aired it all out, scraped off the old pad. There was a set of drawers attached to it but they were in the way so BohoHandyman removed them and I requested caster wheels so I could roll it where I wanted. There was also a bar across the front so the stool couldn't be rolled under so he removed it and braced it on either end.
I don't like my back to a door or window (if I can help it) when working so I moved it out and this way it gets the sunlight AND I my back isn't to either. It doesn't look like it but there is plenty of room to work at the drawing table or the easel.
The big shelf unit holds many supplies as well as behind the curtain in the closet.
View from the door. You can see aprons hanging, I am a very funny duck because I just can't work without one one. It's handy to wipe my hands on it and protect my clothes as I am notorious for getting paint on them. Something about getting up, ready to work, getting a cup of coffee and donning an apron.....
View looking through the screen door, keeping it closed keeps the cats out whose hair gets everywhere and being able to see through it keeps the room from seeming closed off.
Another view. The nice part about this table is I can adjust the angle or lay if flat when working with clay or some other type project.
You can see the boards attached on the side, if not for those the table would wobble. The box next to it is the back of the wee drawer unit.
This is the formerly attached drawer unit. I took the handles off and the holes are where locks were. Evidently it was used in a school environment where probably each student had a drawer and a key. Currently I open the drawers by sticking my finger in the hole but later I will paint it and change the hardware. Works for now and each drawer has various paints, markers etc. It's quite convenient. (and as I said I can roll it to where I need it)
This is the guest area across the room......I need a different, unusual lamp & shade still and will be making throw pillows eventually and there will be half canopy over the bed. Right now, again, not high on the list.
This is my wee computer area. It's a bit cramped but for now it works. Sometimes you have to really use a space to determine what works and what doesn't. My back is to the window but the screen door is to my right so I can see part of the living room and kitchen from it so it's fine.
It's a funny thing about showing you all photos from various places in my house because I ALWAYS seem to have disclaimers about how this or that will change or I still need to do this or that. BohoHandyman is driven to insanity sometimes because I will look around a room and he KNOWS by the look on my face I'm going to want to change something. I think the thing about that is it all has to be done on a low budget.....if I could just go out and get whatever I wanted to complete rooms whenever I wanted...scan antique stores and flea markets for the right lamps, mirrors and other accessories....I think it would all come together faster. BUT in this economy it has to be acquired slowly so things change accordingly. AND add to that our house being small you can only fit so much. Ahhhh, such is life! Are you a "mind changer" when it comes to your home? Or are you one that has had things in place for years and you still enjoy looking at it?
Well enough talking about ART......it's time to don that apron and get to it.......
