I woke up this morning with a driving desire to put paint to canvas.....perhaps my wanting to sew and now paint means the mojo is starting to come out of hiding. My fave colors magenta, deep turquoise, teal, claret red, various mossy and tonal greens, and more (as in this bouquet I also showed in a another post) are like instruments in my head waiting to be played. It is the impetous I've needed to really get in there and "tune up" the studio in readiness for performances. With its long absence it may be a little "off key" and "pitchy" at first but I am hopeful all the colorful notes will come together in short order resulting in an artful, melodic "song". It may be a simple little ditty or a full on opera or perhaps a musical comedy. But when the studio stage is set (my hope is this weekend).... I will ready the colorful instruments, clear my throat, stretch my fingers, stretch my arms over head, bend my head side to side, twist my body side to side, take some deep breaths....then pick up my orchestral brush baton and hold it in the air and then when ready the tap, tap on the easel.......it will then be time to begin the show.
Here is my embarrasing admission of a "theater" in a state of disarray....not from use but from going through everything in readiness for its debut (YET AGAIN)
A closet being purged of its contents in order to form a more perfect stage presence
An easel used a plenty but sorely neglected of late - sitting backstage waiting
The orchestral brush batons sitting and waiting to lead
A sampling of colors sitting idly by, tuning up awaiting their chance to play in the orchestra
Fabric (a mere sampling) and trims waiting for their cue
The glitterati sits with flash bulbs ready to go off
........the stage hands have to scurry about putting this there and that over there and painting the scenery and erecting sets. Sweeping the stage. "Costumes" must be washed and hung. Everything has to go as planned so that the entire production can be successful.
Along with this comes the cleaning and setting up for other parts of the surrounding "theater" itself. Chairs must be cleaned and floors vacuumed, lights dusted, the food/bar area sparkling, programs neatly stacked. Dressing rooms sorted and cleaned. Restrooms fresh. It will take time to get it all in good order so that every focus is on the "musical production" with no distractions. But it CAN and WILL be done.
