A long time ago I wrote this poem.........it just sort of typed itself strangely enough. The image I drew way later without it in mind.....strangely enough. (turned it in to a watercolor-look)
This image and the poem are ©Lisa Swifka.
My blog has been quiet but art is being created every day and I have a hankering to write as well. I hope all is wonderful in your worlds!!
Her hair in a knot
Her face not yet washed
Tears in her frock.
Hagatha Ragatha
Wearing no shoes
Sips from a tea cup
Watching the moon.
Hagatha Ragatha
Paints in the can
With color upon color
All over her hands
Hagatha Ragatha
Sits in the sun
Planting seeds deep
She has a green thumb
Hagatha Ragatha
Lives near the sea
Stands in the waves
As it tickles her feet
Hagatha Ragatha
Sings all the time
Loud and harmonious
Yet none of it rhymes.
Hagatha Ragatha
Loves looking at trees
She watches for fairies
And gnomes in the leaves
Hagatha Ragatha
Sits by a creek
Gobbling up stories
From the books that she reads
Hagatha Ragatha
Goes in for her tea
It’s time for her bath
And a good night’s sleep
Hagatha Ragatha
Closes her lids
She dreams of tomorrow
And the adventures within
Hagatha Ragatha
Wakes up with the sun
She flings open the door
A new day has begun
Hagatha Ragatha
Knows how to knit
With fingers so nimble
The needles she clicks
Hagatha Ragatha
Writes a letter by hand
Puts it in a bottle
And sends it drifting from land
Hagatha Ragatha
Had written her fears
Seeking answers to questions
That had brought her to tears
Hagatha Ragatha
All on her own
Still singing her songs
And still loves to roam
Hagatha Ragatha
Many years goes by
Stands in the window
And lets out a sigh
Hagatha Ragatha
Hair still in a knot
Goes to the ocean
In a pink cotton frock
Hagatha Ragatha
Walks on the sand
And bends for a shell
When something touches her hand
Hagatha Ragatha
It gave her a fright
then pulls from the grains
An astonishing sight
Hagatha Ragatha
Lifts the bottle, the label blurred
Could this be a letter
In answer to hers?
Hagatha Ragatha
Tries to pull open the top
Her fingers now bent
So she uses a rock
Hagatha Ragatha
Eyes open wide
Peers in to the bottle
And reaches inside
Hagatha Ragatha
Her heart starts to knot
Awaiting the words
And the answers she sought
Dear Hagatha Ragatha
I found your bottle today
You see my dear I’m not so far away
You should know that my name is Hagatha like you
I bet you’re surprised that there could be two
I’ve watched you in slumber and then in play
And having your tea at the end of the day
I too love wandering and fairies and gnomes
And wait til the last minute before I go home
I’ve run like the wind with the greatest of ease
Like you I wear nothing upon my bare feet
Life’s an adventure, a banquet you see
And we’re traveling it together, you and me
Don’t ever worry if you‘re too young or too old
Just let life before you unfold and unfold
Take all the chances you can while you’re here
Hold on to each moment so precious and dear
Know that together we feel just the same
We even look alike besides sharing a name
Soak up the moments that life has to give
Continue your adventures and live, live, live
I imagine you’re puzzled as you read by the sea
I know this is all sort of hard to believe
Just remember that you are never alone
The past and the present will always be known
The future is waiting like mornings to come
So take my hand and we’ll play in the sun
Are you still wondering just who I might be?
We were children, adults and even young teens
Are you wondering just how old I might be?
I’m ten, twenty, fifty, perhaps eighty three
Here or there it’s all the same place
Don’t worry of time that cannot be retraced
Just go on living a life filled with peace
Hold on to your joy, do what you please
Hagatha Ragatha
Finds her old tin
Folds up the letter
And gently places it in
Hagatha Ragatha
Thoughts fill her head
As she takes out the letter
And reads it again
Hagatha Ragatha
Stands at her door
Tin in her pocket
Feet sandy from shore
Hagatha Ragatha
Steps softly inside
Looks round her house
With tears in her eyes
Hagatha Ragatha
Thought long and thought deep
Went to the mirror
Wondering what she would see?
Hagatha Ragatha
Stood in front of the glass
Stroked her face gently
Wondering when time had passed
Hagatha Ragatha
Looked closer to see
Her hair was all white
Where the brown used to be
Hagatha Ragatha
Had lines she could trace
But saw a young girl
In the smile on her face
Hagatha Ragatha
Sat down in her chair
Filled with the wisdom
The letter had shared
Hagatha Ragatha
Woke up with the dawn
Life was ahead of her
As she broke out in song
Hagatha Ragatha
The future unknown
Knew one thing for sure
She did not feel alone
Hagatha Ragatha
Her hair in a knot
Her face not yet washed
Tears in her frock.
Hagatha Ragatha
Hugs the old tin
Looks out the window
Her face wearing a grin
