Ah the summer has become enraged again so that it's temperatures are rising and rising. Not being a hot weather gal it plays on my energy and my mood at times. Now I do realize that there are places throughout this country that are really HOT and stay that way for weeks at a time....I feel so bad for those who endure that year after year. Here in my part of California it's not always so....so when these near triple digit days arise it just stops you in your tracks. The surrounding hills are a dry and brittle brown and the air is like looking through a dirty screen. I always worry about lightening or the careless hand of a human to set things ablaze. Luckily the fog is supposed to roll in tomorrow and cool things off a bit. That ends the weather portion of the broadcast.
Here are a few more pages to show you as my love affair with working in my "book" continues.....mostly in the evenings. The studio is still being worked on so at some point larger projects will come out of there. Until then..........
"FACES IN THE MIST"
This page evolved in a very odd (almost spooky) way. I was painting on the page with various colors..... and then swirled more paint and then swirled on some white...just playing along..... until suddenly "they" began to appear.....faces in the paint. I held up the book and even BohoMan said "OMG, I can see one there and there". So I used paint colors and pencils to outline what was visible. This was never the goal here, just some paint layering...but like looking in to clouds and seeing images that's what happened here. In every case I followed the outlines of the head and features...in one case only the face and hair appeared...no features at all. Try it sometime....just play with colors and swirling on and adding white and just layer..........don't think about it.
After it dries hold it up and see if images appear in random places......
you can't force it.
"UNDER THE SEA"
Again, layering blues and using various things to imprint white circles....I started to see bubbles in them. The next morning I woke up thinking someone needed to be snorkling among the bubbles.
Layering paint...these book pages have texture so sometimes it ends up looking like I added texture but in this case I did not. In person it looks like a weathered old wall...not quite as bright as this appears.
'UNRAVELING THE GHOST"
I know button eyes are not my invention.....but these are MY characters and I just found the buttons lended themselves to the look. Truth be told button eyes are rather an old concept....but anyway.............just in case someone wanted to point out that maybe I was channeling Coraline....which I was not.

On the computer front......the laptop is back and hasn't crashed but now it won't connect to my WiFi. My techy nephew walked me through all sorts of things to rectify it to no avail. Now I have to talk to the computer place again to see if they did something. I tell you this whole laptop issue is a pain in the bum. BUT the good news is we ordered a new PC (just the tower) that will be here in a little over a week. It's going to be screaming fast and have all sorts of space and I will have fab software for editing photos. I'm really excited!!
A couple of months ago I paid for a class that will be held the end of September. It's an all day class photography class....the guy holding the class is a professional photog that does weddings, engagement photos and children but his other photos are fabulous as well. I really wanted an intense course on fully using my camera in all ways possible and to also learn special techniques, use of settings etc. He offers another course in November (part 2) where you actually then go out to a location learning set up and lighting etc. and then go back and go over editing etc. THAT class is full but I am hoping to get in if he extends it.(or maybe if I plead) I really love taking photos and feel it's important to be as well educated as possible to get the best from your camera. I haven't taken many photos lately (like I used to) except for some art or various stuff around the house but that's going to change. AND soon I will have photo editing software extraordinaire so I am more than excited about that too. Photography is definitely another art form I've been interested in since getting my first wee camera as a child. Although I love color photos I have always been drawn to black and white - I want to combine my art and photos in the future.
Some day I'd love to combine art, photography and my love of writing in a very special way. In the meantime blogging has been great in terms of using all three of those things.

I finally got the newest Artful Blogging .........congrats to Stephanie on the lovely article about Dia de Bloglandia......which I understand will be happening again. (Read about how she is combining it with a charity auction)
Also congrats to Vanessa on her article and photos about last years Halloween Fete.

One last thing in this very long post....I'm cramming in a lot for some reason....our tribe the Glitter Sisters did a magic wand swap recently and I had Gemma's name. It was received so I can show it now. Thanks to her for the photo (it's presently hanging on her fireplace) as I didn't remember to take a photo until AFTER I had packaged it. DUH! It's kind of a magic wand/spirit stick:
I put two sticks from Orangewood B&B overlapped end to end and wrapped them with paper covered wire. I then covered the whole thing leaving some of the wrapping visible, with air dry paper clay. I etched a few things in it including the word magic on the handle end. The other end is a sea shell and in between are various things as you can see. It was fun making it all the while trying to infuse it with as much magic powers as possible. We also exchanged affirmation cards but mine have been trapped in the laptop so are VERY late in getting out. I am hoping I can now print them out and mailed.
So there you have the goings on of this Whimsical Bohemian.
I've been trying to visit you all little by little. Always know how much I appreciate you taking time in your day to stop by my little space here...it is never taken for granted. Please know if I haven't been by your blog it is never anything personal.....in fact on this slow PC some blogs I've tried visiting will not load entirely no matter how many times I try. It's been frustrating because it's not just one or two of them.
Keep a song in your heart, a smile on your face and stay cool out of the heat!
Love,
Lisa
