G and I did a photo shoot and of MANY photos that were taken I had a hard time choosing what to keep, I ended up choosing this one and the image you see as my profile photo. (I am noticing the contrast is funny, various skin areas are an odd color, I should go back and fix that but....oh well)
I am acutely aware of my need to lose weight so I rarely have my photo taken, especially when it comes to my face and those chins. Some of the images looked down right bull froggish! Lipo? BUT I decided this IS me right now and if I am going to meet fellow bloggers in person this is what you'll get. You know? There's no photoshopping or airbrushing yourself in real life (although wouldn't that be grand?) [I did have to "play" with the tree to block some of the window in the background, it doesn't really have that fullness]....anyway...
I am a big girl (in more ways than one - ha!) and I know what my physical strengths and weaknesses are. I like my eyes and I like my smile(above the chin). Ok, I said something positive! It's a big step for me people, a big step indeed to just put it out there so take that for what it's worth. The truth of the matter is I have substance beyond the exterior.......we ALL do and in my book that makes us all Goddesses.....so let your light shine! Be your unique self..........we are all multifaceted human beings that go way beyond what our dress size is or how tall we are or what we do for a living or what kinds of art we create or if we're married or single or divorced or widowed. We cannot be pigeon holed as being one succinct way....humans my friends, are complex beings. We all have that in common. Embrace all the layers that make YOU, YOU!
Now about that dress I'm wearing.....
The top started out as a cotton nightgown that didn't fit right so I cut it.
The original top of the dress is above....short sleeves, button front, too small.
I cut off the original top to the dress and sewed the top of the nightgown to the bottom of the dress and voila, a whole new look, easy too! It's comfortable and it's very me and in total the entire thing cost under $20! I love discount stores! Sometimes when you see things that may not work on their own, look around and you may find you can literally cut and paste(or rather sew) bits together and reinvent the fashion wheel to suit yourself!
The hat is aubergine velvet purchased from a French store in Half Moon Bay when we were last there. I love it!
I had a Popsicle today. Don't they just scream summer? They drip on your hand and make your lips all bright and they are so refreshing. My favorites are cherry and orange and I'm looking for lime ones. Popsicles or a cup of flavored shaved ice, hmmm hmmm good! (although I haven't had the latter in a long time) Look at the color of that sky, isn't it beautiful? Not a cloud in sight and the temp was mild with a breeze!!! I love days like this! I just remembered I have a hoola hoop in my car that I bought a couple of weeks ago, duh! I could be out there shakin' my groove thang. Mental note: get hoop from back of car.
In recent days I was given some blogger awards, I know you've seen them on other blogs. I am always truly honored and grateful when someone takes the time to give one to me. BUT what I am bad at is passing them along. I know you're supposed to and most comply with the rules, yet do I? Well, no. I don't want to appear as "Awardy Awarderson"....that I'm too good to pass them along. OH NO!!!!! I just cannot pick and choose because....well..........Click HERE and see my explanation and perhaps grab the badge at the bottom of that page for yourself. To me YOU are ALL worthy of all the awards that people can create because you shine your light each and every day!
AND ONE LAST THING.......
If you haven't seen the new issue (above) yet you simply must go and find it! Not only does my dear friend Vanessa have a beautiful feature in this issue (yay V.) but the other blogs featured are outstanding as well. It's really a spectacular issue. It just proves how many colorful, fun, interesting and unique blogs are out there in blogland, I am always in awe!
I could keep on talking but I must pace myself. Remind me to tell you about my enchanted encounter with a very animated 5 year old boy and his Mom.
XOXO
Love, Lisa
