OH my goodness......this time speed thing is just getting ridiculous. Before I know it days have gone by in a blink! Have I said this before? I'm having deja vu. It becomes like a blog "where's waldo?"
Speaking of blogs........I have a blog roll on my computer that I recently went through and was amazed at how many no longer exist or haven't posted in a year! It's such a change from when I, myself, began blogging nearly 7 years ago. There seems to be more silence in the blogland I knew and I can't help but think some grew weary of it or have turned to social media. I miss the connections in those early days but like anything else things tend to ebb and flow. Have you noticed?
And on the blog subject.........there seems to be some changes afoot in ways we used to be able to follow blogs. Bloglovin' is new, at least to me, but I like it. I only have a couple people I am following just to test it out and it's been quite convenient. Instead of going to blogs and finding them sitting still (like mine does occasionally) it emails me that a blog has a new post. This you can be alerted when all your faves have something new to say and share. It's a no fuss, no muss, no wondering way to keep up with your faves. I am now going to add a whole lot more. Try it yourself.........AND please, if you do, I hope mine is on your list. Is that obnoxious to say that? I have it in my left sidebar as well. wink wink
Anyway....
I was at my best friend's house the other day and her daughter was there with her 2 children (both boys) , I always bring my camera when I know they will be there. The older one didn't want his photo taken that day so I concentrated on the younger one who is nearly 2. This boy is sooooo beautiful and soooo animated and so talkative and so sweet, I call him "shmiley"....no that isn't a misspelling.....I say it that way in a silly voice and have since he was an infant. (His mother gave me the ok to show one of the photos I took that day). Oh be still my heart!
My friend has 2 children herself, boy and girl - grown now of course) but she's always shared them with me. In fact she always says she thinks her daughter is a lot like me in some ways and she thinks it's because I spent so much time with her. They are like a niece and nephew to me and I love them dearly! Now to be able to share in the next generation is a most blissful treat in loving them as well!
Not being able to have children of my own I still ache all these years later but having nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and friends with children helps to fill the gap. When I am with this baby I feel a yearning deep inside of what I couldn't have - which isn't said for pity at all. I am just glad I get to have them in my life!
Now on to projects..............
I am in planning and doing mode. First up is a quilt for the new baby (previous post). I am gathering fabrics and planning my usual unconvential design as well as doing some drawings to transfer to fabric. I need to step it up because..........he gets to go home today!!!! He can't have any outings or visitors until his actual due date (end of June) but he's good to go and everyone is thrilled!
Some of the drawings are basic and won't have actual facial features on some (or maybe they will, I'm still not sure).....these are 2 of them.

Jammie Boy:
I like to make baby quilts really colorful and contain things to look at! I will show it when it's done.
The second thing I am planning is painting our lower kitchen cabinets and repainting the island.
I am actually thinking of painting them (will naturally use CeCe Caldwell paint) in this color:
I need to seriously inject some color and that would certainly do it! It really isn't as bright a red as it looks, I used that color to paint the desk in my studio and I love it. We removed the upper cabinet doors leaving open shelving when we revamped the kitchen a little over 2 yrs ago painting them a soft white. I will keep that the same but will probably paint the shelves inside the same red.
And will be repainting the island as well:
and I am thinking of painting it this color:
I think this color will look amazing with the copper top.
So you see I have my work cut out for me but I need color around me and the kitchen needs more! I adore red and turquoise together and I have changed things around in there since I posted the reveal (see nest in my right side bar). You know how that goes.
So there you have it my friends, nothing too earth shattering and always a to-do list! I need to actually get the hell out of this house because all these projects keep me almost sequestered. So we are planning some day outings for fresh air and inspiration!
I hope you have a wonderful and safe Memorial Day weekend!
AND last but certainly not least.....
My heart goes out to all those who suffered the devastating affects of tornadoes in Oklahoma. I cannot imagine the horrific-ness of having your home, your town, your life ripped apart by a whirling disaster such as that. Please keep them in your hearts, thoughts and prayers.
Love to you all..............
