I have realized my 2 words for the New Year are.............
{FRIENDSHIP} & {LOVE}
They go together, they belong together.........
Friends! Friends are "family" by choice. Whether you've known them for years and years or are more recent friends or ones you've "met" via blogging or art or some other connection that brings you to get to know one another. I have friends I cherish in my life.......female and male. Some I recently reconnected with after a long absence that has brought me great joy (thanks to Facebook I nust say)! Some are friends you can say are "online friends" but that's just how we met.........the friendshsips discovered and connected are very real, very meaningful, very nurturing and very heartfelt. Distance geographically is the only stumbling block but thanks to phone and email and even Facebook, we stay linked to one another.
Friends are like sisters (or brothers in some cases) - they may not be blood related but they are family by choice. Like-minded, kindred spirits. who share their heart and soul. Enduring the test of time and circumstance. Viva la difference too - sometimes friends bring varying things to the table - but we have the common denominator of love for one another.
On the flip side of that is sometimes the differences are too great, sometimes the nurturing becomes lopsided and the scale isn't balanced. It is in those times we must make a choice to walk away........that is life.
My Sister-in-law Sue and my niece-in-law Janet are family by marriage BUT they are friends by choice.
We must remember...........
We are fabulous! We light up the sky from our collective brilliance so that you can see that light from space. We are pleasantly imperfect in our perfection. We are luminous souls. We are beautiful. We are worthy of all goodness. We are not defined by the size of our waists or the color of our hair or the number in our bank accout……we are defined by the size of our hearts and the color of our love and the number of times we say a kind word. We are nurturing hands to hold and a foundation of support unseen but felt. We are blue sky of morning and the moon at night. We are an uplifting song and endearing poem. We are tears that glisten and we are laughter that peels like the finest bells. We are hope. We are the fires warmth on a cold day and the soft cool breeze on a warm day. We are our own happily ever after. We are the ocean waves that ebb and flow. We are the writers of our own stories that will always be on the best seller list of our lives. We are mosaics full of all the fragments of our lives that come together to make us unique. We are luscious and we are savory. We are ups and we are downs and we are all arounds and we cling to our rights to BE. We are loyal. We are the blooms even when there may be thorns around us. We are skilled navigators over the rocky roads and the smooth paths alike. We can soar like eagles and we are wise as owls and we can be timid like deer or as fierce as a lion. We are brave as a bear and we rise up and dive in life like a dolphin. We are many occupations but the one we are most proficient at is being our authentic selves first and foremost. We are spectacular. We are dreams. We are real. We are human! We are amazing! We are friends!
I have friends I've known the majority of my life and some who came in to my life in the last 7 years. Both, all, are cherished!
In the center of our worlds that can sometimes be chaotic and fraught with change (good and bad).....the one constant we can use to center us in our kaliedscope lives is........... LOVE and FRIENDSHIP.
Tell those you love and cherish how you feel about them...............often! Let old friends and new friends know how much they have positively impacted your life. Take the time to give them sun and water and loving care so they continue to blossom in your garden of friendships.
