Autumn is here...........it's already October. Hopefully soon the air will turn crisp and cool.
Soon.............Soups and candles lit and blankets and pumpkin bread and the scent of spice in the air. I hope it's sooner than soon, to feel the change of season.
I have been stitching like a mad woman. For the first time in quite some time I am doing an art swap with 3 Goddess Si*star friends. I will show the finished pieces when the recepients have received them. I have entertained myself with old classic films as I work..........though I know I must get outside.
Soon we will be visiting our friends L and J for some SOUL medicine. They possess the ability to embrace with their hearts and loving spirit. I have been in need of a bit of SOUL medicine of late. We were there last Fall too and it was like being renewed.
Since I like to share.....a couple more clothing redux (French for brought back, revived, restored..........)
This was created from:
The top part is from an old peasant top I've had - cut the bottom off and lengthened the front opening (to wear tanks underneath), stitched along the sleeve and neck edge. Added the tassels that came off another top.
The bottom part was once white with machine embroidery that I covered with fabric circles. It also was gathered with elastic smocking that I removed.
I sewed the two pieces together and then banded the seam with turquoise twill tape that I embroidered over. Since it was now much wider without the elastic smocking I added ties to the back from yet another garment.

Next redux was not so involved. I had this red (actually more wine color) plain stretch velvet tunic. Soooo.....I removed the sleeves from something I had never worn (sort of a ruffly cardi with that super wrinkled affect - don't know why I bought it) Anyway, I removed the sleeves and ironed it out so they were now wide. I removed the tunic sleeves, replaced them with the rayon sleeves and added embroidery on the sleeve band.

I did one more dress but will show that another time.
Everything I have shown has been done solely by hand......thus the hand tendons are screaming at me!!!
And the seasons they go round and round.............

P.S.S. I need to update you all regarding Our World Our Art.........it may not be until late January 2014 now. I am SO sorry for all the delays on this but as I've said many times it's a huge job and things need to be completely right to undertake it. So don't give up! XOXO
