With each passing day the hope of hearing my SUV Princess Periwinkle was recovered seems slimmer and slimmer. It could be in another state by now or worse yet....in parts. Many miles have been driven around this city and beyond...random parking lots, apartment complexes, motels, mall, side streets north and south, cul-de-sacs and more. The hope is always that it will be spotted parked out of the way but again, at this point, who knows. I put an ad on Craigslist and additionally flyers were given out to the mail person (who promptly dispayed it in her postal car window) and flyers were given to some guys that work at my husbands shop who live in areas of another city known for crime. (sadly). I contacted a local radio station, the newspaper and 2 local news TV channels...as suspected they can't do a thing for us as there are too many car thefts to report them all. The whole thing still feels so surreal when I look out and she's not parked there and then my mind goes to the dark place of what's maybe been done to her inside and out - is someone living in her? Are they out 4 wheeling with her in some remote area? There are so many IF ONLYS........if only we had a tracking device on her, if only we had a loud alarm system or if only we knew a physic! Shoulda Coulda Woulda.
The thing is how long do we wait? Two weeks, a month? We can't let it go forever as we need 2 vehicles. We have to get some clarification from the insurance company on exactly what their time policy is but for right now I do have a rental provided by them but that has its limit too in terms of how long we can have it. WAIT FRET WAIT FRET WAIT FRET.....it's the nature of our existance right now.
We appreciate the good thoughts and hopefully collectively the Universe will see fit to listen to them and she will be returned unharmed.
I hate to be a blogging wet blanket but this is what is going on and it's real life.
HRH Periwinkle, Princess of Cars
If you should see her, call 911!
Signed,
Sad but hopeful
