Busy Busy Busy..........oh the brain cells are cranking! Going through magazines, blogs, websites and my own imagination to revamp our kitchen on a budget. I will post pictures and explain as things begin to get underway.
In the meantime I purchased this old buffet from Craigslist that will become a kitchen island/breakfast bar.
The left drawer is small and then what looks like additional drawers is actually one giant one. Perfect for cooking utensils and the like.
I am thinking of painting it similar to the color of this elaborate island:
In my online cruising I actually found this(below) on a The Painted Home blog and couldn't believe my eyes. It's our same buffet - she painted and added a top to hers. Although it's not quite the color I want it did give me a sense of it painted. I want to hightlight the details more. I had to email her.
You cannot believe the fabulous blogs I've found where people decorate on a budget with flea market finds, painting, repurposeing existing items, and more. Things I want to do, some I have done and now I am even more inspired.
The dilemma is in how many choices are out there...........
Today I found a great deal on a counter top for the buffet in an oatmeal colored granite that we are considering. I am not a granite fan but this could definitely work for the top of the "island".
BUT before we do anything we need a new floor and tomorrow they come to give us the estimate for this:
It's an Armstrong vinyl that looks EXACTLY like oak plank flooring. It actually comes in planks with an added edge so they fit next to and around one another. I just love it. To see it you wouldn't know it WASN'T actually wood unless you were told and it is NOT as laminate....it really is a heavy duty vinyl.
The list is long of things to do and there will be LOTS of painting involved....but with a bit of elbow grease, repurposing and so on the kitchen will have a lovely new makeover without ripping out cabinets! (or walls)
The downside...........I am not sleeping well due to all the thoughts and ideas swinging from tree to tree in my monkey brain!
Stay tuned as I share coming before and afters.
AND hopefully I get to squeeze in some art AND get my Etsy shop reopened soon!
Phew...I need a nap!

thought I'd share this......we have things all over and one of the kitchen chairs was sitting in the living room. Lucy curled up on it and Sadey decided to go over and look at her. (which she loves to do)
so far so good....Lucy only tolerates Sadey
But then Lucy decides to let Sadey know not to come any closer
Sadey inches closer and Lucy decides to take Sadey down. Look at that ferocious look on Lucy's face.....Sadey on the other hand was not bothered. (sorry it's a bit blurry as I had to act fast to get the shot)
The other day Sadey actually licked Lucy and Lucy rewarded her with a few bops on the head!
This is the nature of their relationship!
Daisy is completely horrified by Sadey's very existance and will not go near her and if Sadey even attempts a near brush with Daisy our little girly girl growls like a lioness.
Oh yes it's all happening at the zoo!
See you soon!
I hope you're having a great start to your week! Oh and for those enthusiasts the new season of Dancing With the Stars begins tonight!
Cha Cha Cha!
Love,
Lisa
